National Board Certification

Virginia is proud to have 66 of the 1,896 National Board Certified library media specialists (LMSs) in the United States. The endorsement area in Library Media/Early Childhood through Young Adult first became available during the 2001-02 school year when 11 Virginia LMSs achieved certification. The numbers have steadily grown with an additional 16 Virginia LMSs receiving certification in 2007-08.
