Standards


These standards have been developed by the State of Virginia to set minimum benchmarks for the teaching of academic subjects. 


These standards have been developed by organizations charged with setting minimum benchmarks for school administration.

  • Virginia Standards of Accreditation - These Standards were adopted in July 2000 but are the most recent posted. To find pertinent library references, use the binoculars and search for the term "library."

These standards have been developed by the American Library Association and the Association for Educational Communication and Technology to set benchmarks for teaching and developing information literacy skills. 


Into the future, the Partnership for the 21st Century has created a list of skills that should be mastered. These skills heavily depend on literacy proficiency.
